Youth Directions & Alternatives Programs

Our regularly run programs aimed at youth development, social interaction & community impact. Free, no sign ups and fun for your kids.

YDA will be instituting a new "change fee" for all requests to transfer registration from one program to another. This will be permitted at the discretion of the agency if program space and waitlist allow.

Community Impact Team

A student-driven community service club with projects ranging from food drives, supply drives for local shelters, etc.

Drop-In

A recreational program designed to give youth a safe space to hang out with their friends, watch movies, play video games, listen to music, make art, and just be themselves.

Middle & High School Basketball

Play fun pick up games, all skill levels welcome, in a fun no pressure atmosphere located at Northport Middle School

Middle School &High School Youth - Tuesdays at 7:00PM-8:30PM

Grandfriends

An intergenerational program that pairs Northport High School students with seniors living at The Atria, an assisted living facility located in East Northport.

Arts & Crafts

Inspiring and expressing creativity through a variety of fun projects using different techniques, methods & mediums.

Huntington Youth Bureau Programs

The Town of Huntington Youth Bureau is a comprehensive system of projects, services and agencies for youth and families in the Town of Huntington.

Drug & Alcohol Project

Substance abuse counseling, crisis intervention, referrals and education.

Project Excel

Career, academic, and enrichment oriented. Programs include GED tutoring, vocational counseling, job development and placement, dropout prevention and creative expressions workshops.

Sanctuary

Provides assessment and intervention for runaway/homeless youth and their families. Emergency short-term housing is available when appropriate.

Youth Directions & Alternatives is funded by the Town of Huntington Youth Bureau, Suffolk County, the Northport/East Northport School District, the Town Wide Fund of Huntington, local churches, private grants and generous donations.
