Is YDA a non-profit?

Yes! YDA is a private 501(c)(3) community based non-profit.

How is YDA funded?

YDA is funded by the Town of Huntington Youth Bureau, Suffolk County, the Northport/East Northport School District, the Town Wide Fund of Huntington, local churches, private grants and generous donations.

Are YDA staff qualified?

YDA staff are college educated professionals-most are licensed Master level Social Workers. Staff are full-time paid employees. YDA staff are fingerprinted and screened through NY State and Federal databases.

Can I request a refund because...

No. YDA does not offer refunds. A non-transferable YDA credit, less a $10 per person/per adventure cancellation fee, will only be granted if an adventure cancellation is received at least one week prior to the date of the adventure. Credits are good for one year from date of issue.
There are no refunds or credits for Surf Camp.

Who can participate?

Anyone aged 10-21, living in the Northport/East Northport, Elwood and Harborfields School Districts, can attend YDA. We just ask that all participants be able to function independently.

Do you provide transportation?

Transportation is provided by YDA in the form of a school bus, passenger van or charter coach bus.

Can a sibling/friend go in my child's place?

All registrations are final and there are no substitutions or exceptions allowed.

Can I pick up my child from a YDA Adventure?

All participants must leave and depart as a group. NO EXCEPTIONS. Parents are prohibited from following YDA Adventures in their own vehicles.

What is Drop-In?

Drop-In is a keystone program of YDA that allows for students in grades 5 through 8 to socialize in a safe and supervised environment. There is no pre-registration, kids can come any Friday that they are available and can stay for the whole two and a half hours, or less if they'd like to. Once participants sign in, they cannot leave the program and return the same day as we cannot be held responsible for them once they are no longer under our supervision.
