Every kid needs only one caring adult to help them achieve their success story. 

·        Be that adult  Youth Directions & Alternatives (YDA), your local community and youth agency since 1972, in partnership with the office of Legislator William Spencer, is seeking volunteers for a new mentoring program. 

·        Mentors and Mentees will meet in a team setting at YDA’s Northport location (324 Main St). The program will begin in January 2018 and will meet Wednesdays from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.  The group will not meet during school vacations or over the summer.

Concerned about growing intolerance and hostility? Looking to make a difference? Join Youth Against Hate. Learn how to address bias and promote equity for all through weekly group discussions, cultural food samplings, movie screenings and community project development. This group meets at Northport YDA (324 Main St) and begins on Wednesday, October 4th and runs though December 13, 2017. This project has been proudly sponsored by a grant from Investors Foundation.

YDA After School is a two hour program where students do homework for the first hour of the program and during the second hour enjoy recreation and other activities designed to improve their social skills. Youth must have a permission slip to attend. This activity meets at Elwood Middle School in room 121.
